About the role

  • BMO Relationship Manager growing small-business banking portfolios in Quebec. Developing sales strategies, financial solutions, and long-term client relationships to expand market share.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate, build, and manage relationships with a portfolio of small business clients
  • Build a pipeline of new business and increase BMO’s market share
  • Apply consultative sales and business development practices for the assigned portfolio
  • Identify opportunities and refer clients to BMO colleagues as appropriate
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to attract new business clients and expand existing relationships
  • Develop internal and external networks and referral sources
  • Generate appointments and opportunities through targeted sales efforts
  • Execute business plans and relationship management strategies to achieve customer retention objectives
  • Identify prospective customers and cross-sell additional products and services
  • Build client rapport, credibility, and trust as relationship manager
  • Understand the local market and develop relationships with centres of influence
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and provide expertise, responsive service, and support
  • Expand wallet share within the assigned portfolio
  • Answer inquiries and provide accurate information about business banking products and services
  • Understand customer needs and offer financial solutions aligned with customer goals
  • Resolve or escalate issues
  • Develop solutions and recommendations based on business strategy and stakeholder needs
  • Provide advice and guidance on implementation of solutions
  • Analyze strategic problems, data, and information to provide insights and recommendations
  • Monitor and track performance and address issues
  • Coordinate database management in accordance with data governance standards
  • Build and execute change management plans and participate in change management activities
  • Provide input into operational program planning and implementation
  • Execute work to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service
  • Support development and promotion of a business/group program
  • Follow security, safeguarding, risk management, regulatory, confidentiality, and Bank policy requirements
  • Identify risks and take appropriate actions to maintain operational integrity
  • Work independently on complex tasks and exercise judgment to diagnose and solve problems

Requirements

  • Typically 4–6 years of relevant experience
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Ability to interpret financial statements
  • Ability to assess creditworthiness and provide actionable insights
  • Strong knowledge of business banking products
  • Knowledge of lending processes and loan documentation
  • Knowledge of supporting policies, procedures, and technologies
  • Strong experience with customer sales and service
  • Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience
  • In-depth verbal and written communication skills
  • In-depth collaboration and team skills
  • In-depth analytical and problem-solving skills
  • In-depth influence skills
  • In-depth data-driven decision-making skills
  • Ability to follow security, safeguarding, risk management, confidentiality, regulatory, and Bank policy requirements
