About the role

  • Account Manager managing strategic retail accounts and territory sales for FMC, a global agricultural sciences company. Developing customer relationships, forecasts, and growth strategies across Western Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned Canadian strategic account relationships
  • Work with area management to set account strategies
  • Execute day-to-day operations as a member of the Canadian sales team
  • Understand and support corporate values and brand strategy
  • Maintain safety as a top priority
  • Develop and implement territory sales plans aligned with territory goals
  • Segment and plan customer interactions around greatest opportunities
  • Develop and refine retail customer account plans
  • Communicate market trends and customer feedback to commercial leadership
  • Establish and grow retail-level customer relationships
  • Prepare, practice, and deliver presentations in virtual and face-to-face settings
  • Apply Counselor Sales techniques, including pre-call planning, openings, execution, and follow-up
  • Maintain retail-level forecasting to identify opportunities and gaps
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities
  • Manage the interface between customers and FMC
  • Monitor competitor activity and formulate response strategies
  • Implement sales strategies for distributor account contacts in the territory
  • Ensure sales objectives and forecasts align with financial objectives
  • Manage expenses to maximize ROI and achieve territory targets
  • Focus on employee development to increase overall skill sets

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Agriculture or Business, preferably in the agricultural field
  • 5-7 years of experience in Western Canadian agriculture
  • Experience in successful customer relationship management
  • Strong business acumen and leadership skills
  • Detail oriented, results focused and self-starter with strong follow up skills
  • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated performance in delivering sales results
  • Demonstrated aptitude for problem solving and providing solutions for customers
  • Strong financial background an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Well-developed organizational and planning skills
  • CCA, P.Ag or similar designation an asset
  • Majority of travel within the territory with expectation of 5-10% nights away, including Canadian Team meetings
