About the role

  • BMO business banking manager building small-business relationships and growing financial services sales. Managing portfolios, credit solutions, referrals, retention, and risk-informed growth.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate, build, and manage relationships with a portfolio of small business clients
  • Build a pipeline of new business and increase BMO’s market share
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to attract new business clients and expand existing relationships
  • Develop internal and external networks and referral sources
  • Generate appointments and opportunities through targeted sales efforts
  • Develop and execute business plans and relationship management strategies to achieve customer retention objectives
  • Identify prospective customers and cross-sell additional products and services
  • Build client rapport, credibility, and trust
  • Understand the local market and develop relationships with centres of influence
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and provide expertise, responsive service, and support
  • Develop long-term profitable relationships and expand wallet share
  • Answer inquiries and provide accurate information about business banking products and services
  • Understand customer needs and offer financial solutions aligned with customer goals
  • Resolve or escalate issues
  • Develop solutions and recommendations based on business strategy and stakeholder needs
  • Provide advice and guidance on solution implementation
  • Analyze strategic problems, data, and information to provide insights and recommendations
  • Monitor and track performance and address issues
  • Coordinate database management and ensure data governance alignment
  • Build and participate in change management activities
  • Support operational program planning and implementation
  • Execute timely, accurate, and efficient work
  • Support business/group program development and promotion
  • Apply security, safeguarding, risk management, and regulatory procedures to protect the bank and maintain operational integrity

Requirements

  • Typically 4–6 years of relevant experience
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Ability to interpret financial statements
  • Ability to assess creditworthiness
  • Strong knowledge of business banking products, lending processes, loan documentation, and supporting policies, procedures, and technologies
  • Strong experience with customer sales and service
  • Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience
  • In-depth verbal and written communication skills
  • In-depth collaboration and team skills
  • In-depth analytical and problem-solving skills
  • In-depth influence skills
  • In-depth data-driven decision-making skills
  • Ability to apply risk management, security, safeguarding, regulatory, and data governance procedures
