About the role

  • Senior Labour Relations Specialist leading collective bargaining for Federated Co-operatives Limited. Supporting local Co-ops through labour strategy, negotiations, and work-stoppage planning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead collective bargaining negotiations as management’s chief spokesperson
  • Develop bargaining mandates and present proposals
  • Secure agreement approvals
  • Build partnerships with senior leaders, HR teams, and business stakeholders
  • Align bargaining strategies with organizational priorities and market trends
  • Analyze bargaining outcomes
  • Maintain detailed negotiation records
  • Identify opportunities to improve future labour relations strategies
  • Support business continuity planning
  • Assist with labour negotiations and prepare for potential work stoppages
  • Support a portfolio of local Co-ops
  • Collaborate with Total Rewards, Employee Experience, and HR Business Partnering teams
  • Report to the Senior Manager, Labour Relations

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6-9 years of experience as a Labour Relations Advisor within a complex, multi-union environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Relations, Labour Studies, Human Resources, or Commerce; a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered
  • Experience planning collective bargaining negotiations
  • Experience acting as the Lead Negotiator in a multi-employer environment with multiple stakeholders
  • Proven success advancing bargaining strategies and outcomes
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to embrace emerging technologies and digital environments
  • Adaptability to navigate a complex schedule and balance competing demands in a fast-paced environment
  • May be required to complete a criminal record check
