About the role

  • Payroll Specialist responsible for processing weekly payroll for hourly employees in Quebec and Ontario. Ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and provincial laws in payroll administration.

Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for weekly payroll processing for hourly employees in Quebec and Ontario.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll production, account maintenance and reporting in compliance with federal and provincial legislation.
  • Maintain all payroll, deduction and tax data for hourly and non-exempt employees.
  • Verify accuracy of changes to employee information, new hires, terminations, employee and employer contributions to various plans, and contributions to the Company’s benefit plans.
  • Configure and process wage garnishments and payroll deductions, including child support, tax levies and bankruptcy deductions.
  • Maintain documentation related to hourly payroll preparation and maintenance tasks.
  • Produce weekly reports for various vendors and intercompany services.
  • Provide required documentation to auditors.
  • Process bonus payments.
  • Perform manual checks as requested by sites/locations.
  • Perform quarterly account reconciliations.
  • Complete year-end payroll processing.
  • Annually apply updates related to general hourly rate increases across locations.
  • Work closely with Human Resources and Benefits, employees, vendors and sites to keep payroll data current.
  • Collaborate with the Payroll and Tax Specialist to ensure employees are assigned to the correct tax categories, process year-end adjustments and perform general ledger research for any payroll issues.
  • Process benefit plan contribution payments, maintain arrears in SAP and reconcile payments with the biweekly payroll report.
  • Manage the secure payment transfer system (ACH).

Requirements

  • Knowledge of federal and provincial payroll legislation
  • Experience with SAP Payroll is an asset
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field; Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is an asset
  • Minimum of four years of payroll processing experience
