About the role

  • Payroll Specialist managing Canadian and US payroll processes at Domtar. Ensuring compliance and efficient service delivery to meet deadlines and internal standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform payroll-related tasks for employees across multiple entities
  • Ensure payroll services are delivered efficiently and on schedule
  • Perform dual validation of activities related to Canadian and U.S. payroll runs
  • Execute payroll production controls for executives
  • Reconcile accounts and prepare payments to various vendors
  • Prepare monthly reports and perform accounting reconciliations
  • Stay current with payroll laws and regulations
  • Respond to requests from internal and external clients
  • Participate in year-end activities for Canadian and U.S. payrolls
  • Participate in various projects as required

Requirements

  • College diploma in administration, accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Holding a Payroll Administrator designation from the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) or the American Payroll Association (APA) is a significant asset
  • Minimum of five (5) years of payroll experience (full-cycle Canadian and/or U.S. payroll)
  • Experience with large-scale payroll software and knowledge of SAP are assets
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian and/or U.S. payroll practices
  • Thorough understanding of payroll legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced-level Excel skills required
  • Bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written
