About the role

  • Automation Engineer responsible for designing and implementing control systems for energy storage projects at EVLO. Collaborating closely with engineering teams while ensuring data quality and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with Integration and Engineering teams to define technical requirements
  • Perform design (plans and specifications)
  • Program or modify programmable logic controllers (Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Phoenix Contact)
  • Develop or adapt HMI/SCADA interfaces (e.g., Rockwell), with the possibility of mentoring more junior resources
  • Participate in large-scale automation programming projects
  • Contribute to the maintenance and development of historian databases
  • Ensure the quality, consistency, and reliability of collected data
  • Actively participate in FAT/SAT testing, commissioning, and pre-operational checks
  • Support supervision of equipment installation and validate functional tests
  • Assist in diagnostics and troubleshooting during integrations
  • Write or update technical documentation and manuals
  • Perform occasional site visits for start-ups, commissioning, and support activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Automation
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in automation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; strong team spirit
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs (Schneider, Allen-Bradley, Phoenix Contact)
  • Proficiency with SCADA software, notably FactoryTalk View
  • Knowledge of industrial communication networks: Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, DNP3, IEC 61850
  • Familiarity with historian databases (e.g., FactoryTalk Historian)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, control, and single-line diagrams
  • Excellent oral and written communication in French and English
  • Knowledge of the energy sector is an asset.
