About the role

  • Renewals Manager coaching teams that drive customer retention and expansion for GitLab's DevSecOps platform. Managing forecasts, renewals workflows, and cross-functional execution remotely.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day work of a team of individual-contributor Renewals Managers/Associates
  • Implement functional renewals plans and strategy into tactical processes for a book of business
  • Maintain accurate renewals performance visibility in the CRM/renewals system for forecasting and reporting
  • Deliver precise forecasting for the renewal segment, including churn and growth projections
  • Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Finance on renewals and expansion opportunities
  • Resolve moderately complex renewal and team problems according to GitLab processes and policies
  • Coach business acumen, including pricing, contract terms, whitespace, and expansion motions
  • Make routine operational decisions and escalate blocked or higher-risk issues
  • Guide prioritization and protect revenue and retention
  • Maintain team alignment with Division and Company-wide priorities
  • Set goals and performance expectations, drive accountability, monitor progress, and cascade information
  • Remove blockers and streamline renewals workflows
  • Identify talent gaps and provide candid, real-time feedback and coaching
  • Address engagement and retention needs and foster open feedback
  • Advise direct reports on career growth and task-level skills
  • Coach behaviors aligned with GitLab's Operating Principles and high-performance culture
  • Model and coach remote working best practices

Requirements

  • Prior experience as a renewals, customer success, or sales professional, with exposure to renewal motions
  • Experience managing or mentoring early-career to mid-level individual contributors, or clear readiness to step into first-line people management
  • Strong understanding of GitLab's or a comparable SaaS company's renewals processes, pricing, and contract fundamentals
  • Ability to translate functional plans and strategy into clear, tactical day-to-day team processes
  • Sound judgment on routine operational decisions, with the discipline to escalate cleanly when issues exceed the team's scope
  • Strong prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated people-leadership instincts: goal-setting, accountability, feedback, coaching, and fostering trust and engagement
  • Alignment with GitLab's Values and Operating Principles
  • Excellent written, verbal, and remote presentation communication skills
  • Comfort operating in a fully remote, asynchronous work environment
  • Ability to travel for trainings, team offsites, customer meetings, and similar events
