About the role

  • Payroll Specialist managing HEC’s payroll and benefits ensuring compliance with legislation and internal policies. Supporting employee inquiries and contributing to total rewards program for Canadian healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Manage HEC’s pan-Canadian payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable legislations.
  • Provide analytical and technical support for the development and implementation of a competitive total rewards program.
  • Act as the first point of contact for employee inquiries related to payroll and benefits.
  • Ensure the integrity of compensation practices, ensuring consistency and equity in the application of programs and policies.
  • Process full-cycle payroll for Canadian employees using ADP Workforce Now.
  • Liaise with People & Culture team to ensure the accuracy of data entry related to employee changes.
  • Calculate earnings and deductions corresponding to employee changes.
  • Validate payroll previews to ensure accuracy.
  • Administer year-end payroll activities and address payroll-related inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Continuously evaluate, suggest, and implement improvements to payroll processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, human resources, or a related discipline or equivalent knowledge and expertise is required.
  • National Payroll Institute certification, such as PCP or CPM is required.
  • Experience with ADP-Workforce Now payroll platform is required.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience overseeing payroll, benefits and compensation as a specialist or as part of a generalist role
  • Experience managing a pan-Canadian payroll (preferred).
  • Advanced computer software skills in Microsoft Office suite, and Excel in particular.
  • Bilingual in French and English is preferred (English communications at Advanced “C” level and French communications at Intermediate “B” level).
