About the role

  • Field Service Technician responsible for the maintenance of underground mining equipment at Sandvik. Troubleshooting, repairing, and commissioning equipment while ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect equipment to ensure proper operation and to identify faults and failures.
  • Adjust equipment and repair/replace defective components or systems as required to restore equipment to original factory specifications.
  • Verify the proper operation of repaired equipment.
  • Oversee the commissioning of new equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of service trucks and ensure their upkeep.
  • Accurately complete time sheets, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists.
  • Keep up to date with industry developments, customer needs, products, and technical best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Diploma or certificate in a relevant field (mechanical/electrical) or equivalent experience as a heavy equipment mechanic.
  • Red Seal certification/endorsement, if applicable.
  • Five (5) years of related experience with mining equipment (surface mining).
  • Ability to work in French and English is an asset.
  • Previous experience with Sandvik equipment or products is an asset.
  • Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical issues on mining equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer skills and experience with Microsoft software.
  • Valid driver’s license required and willingness to travel to mine sites and across Canada as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to work variable schedules as required.
