Responsibilities
Play a key role in translating the HDRN Canada and ICES Strategic Plan into action to expand the HDRN Canada and ICES Data Repository by managing, leading and supporting new business relating to the development of data-related partnerships and research, including large complex partnership projects with a variety of interest holders, that span organizations and geographies;
Manage all phases of the project life cycle in collaboration with and under guidance of the Director, Partnerships – HDRN, ICES Scientists, and HDRN Canada interest holders using project management best practices;
Support the needs and requirements of partners, as they relate to HDRN Canada and ICES Strategic Plan and partnership agreements;
Assess and in some cases, identify new business and business needs/project requirements related to partnerships and use of new data sets, according to HDRN Canada and ICES Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan;
Develop and implement Partnership Project Plans, charters and budgets as required, working with all relevant internal and external interest holders;
Produce novel data sharing models, according to interest holder needs and in collaboration with HDRN and ICES Privacy and Compliance and Data Quality and Information Management, and aligned with PHIPA and other legislation and ICES policies, practices and procedures, as required;
Define and manage the project processes including scope, timeline, cost, issue, risk management, change management, quality and resource management; review and communicate project status on a regular basis with the project sponsor, project team or other interest holders as required;
Write project reports, technical reports, status reports, requirements, briefing notes in collaboration with all interest holders or project team members as required;
Publicly represent HDRN Canada and ICES through interest holder presentations, research conferences and organized meetings;
Identify project resource requirements and work with interest holders to ensure projects are appropriately resourced;
Maintain all project documentation associated with the partnership and data sharing agreement development activities;
Collaborate with the Procurement and Contracts Analyst, as required;
Manage complex interest holder engagement and relations (internal and external) including problem resolution, negotiating and resolving conflicts;
Manage 3rd party vendors selected to participate in assigned projects;
Develop and manage project communications including working with ICES’ Communications Department, as required;
Collaboratively contribute to recruitment and general orientation/mentoring of new members of the role group or other project support staff as required;
Contribute to Partnerships – HDRN department development and ICES strategic initiatives as required;
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
Requirements
Master’s degree in Epidemiology or related field or demonstrated research experience considered an asset
PMP certification (Project Management Professional) is considered an asset
Minimum 5 years of project management experience, ideally in health care or health services research sectors
Experience in health planning, public policy, government relations is an asset
Working knowledge of health services research, use of administrative data for health systems evaluation and monitoring, health informatics and Ontario privacy legislation
Strong initiative, decision making, and problem-solving abilities
Demonstrated ability to problem solve and function independently
Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple projects within tight timelines
Ability to manage multidisciplinary project teams and work with a broad range of internal and external interest holders
Exceptional interpersonal, written and oral communication and presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels are required
Proficient knowledge of standard system software applications (e.g., MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint & MS Project)
Ability to maintain high standards and professionalism in all stages of projects.
