About the role

  • Payroll Specialist Lead ensuring accurate, compliant global payroll at Remote, a platform for hiring and managing international teams. Optimizing Zendesk, SOPs, training, and cross-functional operations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll execution, meeting >99% of deadlines and maintaining >99.5% accuracy
  • Implement strategic checks and controls for regulatory compliance
  • Own and optimize the Zendesk ticketing queue, assigning tickets within 24 hours and addressing recurring issues
  • Maintain and improve SOPs, checklists, and internal resources across teams
  • Provide cross-team training, mentorship, and knowledge sharing, including with Implementation and PCST
  • Make informed decisions independently and propose solutions with broader operational impact
  • Provide global client support, follow-ups, problem-solving, and stakeholder management
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and advise on complex business decisions
  • Lead global testing, high-impact projects, and cross-functional initiatives
  • Collaborate with other teams using tools such as Slack to troubleshoot and provide guidance
  • Report to the Associate Manager, Payroll Operations

Requirements

  • Several years in regional or global payroll operations, with a solid understanding of global payroll best practices
  • Experience managing teams with a hands-off approach and fostering a collaborative work environment
  • Proficiency in payroll software tools such as SAP, Excel, and Google Sheets
  • Analytical mindset and strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced international environment and adapt quickly to changes
  • Experience improving productivity, streamlining processes, and optimizing efficiency
  • Comfortable working asynchronously and remotely in a globally distributed team
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English
  • Ability to work in the United States or Canada
