Assistant Project Manager at Stantec, managing projects from conception to completion. Collaborating with teams to ensure successful delivery of engineering-related projects.
Responsibilities
Actively manage diverse programs and projects of varying size and complexity through the entire project lifecycle
Identify and manage priorities, risks, issues, and develop mitigation strategies
Provide day-to-day program and project oversight and communication with the client and project team
Understand contracts and delivery methods and assist with the negotiation of contracts
Develop, track, update, forecast and modify program and project schedules
Review and track all contracts, invoices, and payments to all contractors, consultants, and vendors and prepare reports for clients and other stakeholders
Manage change order process for scope, schedule and budget variance and assist in resolving disputes and claims
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and the HSSE management system on assigned projects
Provide expert advice, training and recommendations on project management standards, governance, and procedures to continuously improve project management practices
Act as an ambassador of the company in all interactions with clients, consultants, and peers.
Requirements
A minimum of five (5) years of engineering related project experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Engineering degree/technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in a related field: or an equivalent combination of education and experience
P.Eng, PMP certification, or an equivalent designation is an asset
Project coordination and multi-disciplinary team leadership experience are essential to the role
Knowledge and experience in energy and resources is considered an asset
Strong leadership skills & the ability to move a team forward
Ability to manage stakeholders
Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to perform well under the pressure of deadlines
Adapt to a dynamic project environment and can manage multiple tasks over an extended period
Solid verbal and written communication skills
Proactively identify risks and determine their impact on the program or project with a proven ability to mitigate or resolve in a timely manner
Demonstrated ability to work successfully with clients, internal teams, and contractors
Experience with budget management
Understanding of plans, contracts, and specifications.
