About the role

  • Assistant Project Manager at Stantec, managing projects from conception to completion. Collaborating with teams to ensure successful delivery of engineering-related projects.

Responsibilities

  • Actively manage diverse programs and projects of varying size and complexity through the entire project lifecycle
  • Identify and manage priorities, risks, issues, and develop mitigation strategies
  • Provide day-to-day program and project oversight and communication with the client and project team
  • Understand contracts and delivery methods and assist with the negotiation of contracts
  • Develop, track, update, forecast and modify program and project schedules
  • Review and track all contracts, invoices, and payments to all contractors, consultants, and vendors and prepare reports for clients and other stakeholders
  • Manage change order process for scope, schedule and budget variance and assist in resolving disputes and claims
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and the HSSE management system on assigned projects
  • Provide expert advice, training and recommendations on project management standards, governance, and procedures to continuously improve project management practices
  • Act as an ambassador of the company in all interactions with clients, consultants, and peers.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five (5) years of engineering related project experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Engineering degree/technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in a related field: or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • P.Eng, PMP certification, or an equivalent designation is an asset
  • Project coordination and multi-disciplinary team leadership experience are essential to the role
  • Knowledge and experience in energy and resources is considered an asset
  • Strong leadership skills & the ability to move a team forward
  • Ability to manage stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to perform well under the pressure of deadlines
  • Adapt to a dynamic project environment and can manage multiple tasks over an extended period
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactively identify risks and determine their impact on the program or project with a proven ability to mitigate or resolve in a timely manner
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with clients, internal teams, and contractors
  • Experience with budget management
  • Understanding of plans, contracts, and specifications.
