About the role

Senior Automation Engineer working with Integrated Design team for Energy and Resources projects. Handling instrumentation and controls engineering across various sectors in a full-time role.

Responsibilities

Engages in the development of design through verbal, written, and visual methods including sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and redlines.
Supports or leads project coordination meetings with internal multi-discipline team members and/or external consultants, owner reps, contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors.
Participates in client project requirement meetings, PHAs, value analysis sessions, and basic cost estimating.
Assists other project leads with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing and schedule.
This position is intended to be client facing and includes attending client meetings, which may at times be remote, as well as corresponding directly with the client.
Part-time office presence is a requirement.
Leads and / or works on multiple projects when required.

Self-starter, with the ability to handle change and work with minimal supervision.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent interpersonal abilities and willingness to work in a team atmosphere.
Previous experience as a Lead Engineer on detailed engineering/construction projects with a consulting firm or owners team.
Experience in underground mine design will be a strong asset.
Demonstrated leadership skills and project engineering experience.
Ability to take the lead on a project team and mentor junior staff members.
Willingness to travel to client sites or other Stantec offices (~10% travel).
Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Diploma in a related engineering field (Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Electronics)
10 + years of experience in engineering, design, and construction in the sectors covered by “heavy industry”, particularly in the Power sector will be beneficial.
PE Licensed in the state of Texas or Arizona, or the ability/commitment to acquire one.
