Payroll Advisor facilitating TELUS payroll operations and ensuring compliance with legislation. Collaborating with internal and external partners to drive payroll strategy forward.
Responsibilities
Execution and/or support of our biweekly, monthly and quarterly payroll
Ensure all inputs and outputs of our payroll are compliant with TELUS, legislated or negotiated requirements
Meet both internal and external auditor’s Sarbanes-Oxley control requirements
Provide feedback, coaching and information sessions as required to ensure compliance with federal and provincial legislation and company policies
Accountable for the accuracy, limit in use and protection of team member data within your role
Leverage and enhance our use of the SAP payroll system to support your deliverables
Lead the delivery of our annual T4 and Relevé 1 program
Review and update payroll and benefits-related internal process documentation and content on our intranet site
Operate as a Trusted Advisor and Ambassador
Provide guidance to the P&C Operations team members related to facilitation of escalated issues through problem recognition, research, and analysis
A key player for the payroll function, issue resolution oversight and other related communication
Collaborate with business partners to support various programs to our team members, including recommendations to gain direction, alignment, and final approval of your manager
Build strong relationships across Canada within the P&C community and represent P&C Operations at various meetings, acting as a technical payroll resources
Provide critical business insights and thought leadership
Maintain our compliance adherence brand both internally with audit and externally with government and audit agencies to prevent penalties for non-compliance
Implement payroll best practices for TELUS’ pay policies to improve processes
Requirements
Valued for 5+ years of payroll and compliance continuous education and experience, in both federal and provincial environments, preferably within large corporate organizations
Noted as a solid communicator and excellent collaborator who can influence and build strong business partner relationships
Recognized for managing numerous competing priorities and commitments with extremely high attention to detail in an organized manner
Experience working with Canada Revenue Agency and Revenu Québec
A track record of executing and delivering on agreed upon objectives
Pro at using the different functions of Excel and SAP HR and Finance modules
A university degree or college diploma in Business
PCP designation
Bilingual in English and French, both written and oral
Experience working in a unionized environment
Advanced knowledge of English is required because you will most of the time interact in English with external parties (clients, suppliers, candidates, external partners, etc.); interact in English with internal parties (colleagues, internal partners, stakeholders, etc.); and work with IT tools whose interface is only accessible in English as part of this position's main responsibilities given its national scope.
