About the role

  • Program Manager overseeing the establishment of Canada's first sovereign MALE RPAS capability. Leading planning and coordination in a critical aerospace program for Volatus Aerospace.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day coordination between engineering, manufacturing, flight test, and certification teams.
  • Maintain and manage the program's integrated schedule.
  • Track milestones, risks, dependencies, and critical paths.
  • Ensure coordination with engineers located in the United Kingdom.
  • Lead preparation activities for establishing initial manufacturing capability, including prototype build planning, tooling strategy, supplier integration, and facility layout.
  • Lead development of baseline documentation, processes, and work instructions required for prototype construction.
  • Drive initial preparation activities for AS9100 certification and coordinate contributions from engineering, operations, and quality.
  • Lead initial flight test planning and certification sequencing as processes, resources, and requirements evolve.
  • Oversee execution of the flight test program, including planning, resource management, and reporting results to internal stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with Transport Canada and National Defence/Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) teams, ensuring regulatory and military compliance throughout testing and certification.
  • Assist in preparing required reports for funding programs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of program/project management experience in aerospace, defense, RPAS/UAS, or advanced manufacturing.
  • Bilingualism in French and English (spoken and written) is a strong asset.
  • Proven success managing programs in early-stage or greenfield environments, establishing processes, structures, and teams.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace engineering processes and prototype development.
  • Proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams (engineering, operations, supply chain, quality assurance).
  • Knowledge of AS9100, Part IX, or military/NATO airworthiness frameworks (an asset).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive and succeed in dynamic environments where requirements and priorities are constantly changing.
  • PMP certification (an asset, not required).
