About the role

  • Assistant Project Manager I coordinating internal and external resources to achieve program goals for Seaspan. Supporting project management practices and stakeholder engagement for successful program delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Program team in coordination and execution of assigned Program activities and deliverables, while working closely with internal functions.
  • Assists in the generation and review of programmatic deliverables.
  • Monitors and helps collate program metrics to measure functional, supplier and contractor program performance and risks.
  • Provides Program delivery support to the Project Managers.
  • Escalates Program delivery issues to Project Managers.
  • Delivers work in accordance with Quality Management Systems.
  • Develops expertise in deliverables.
  • Aligns deliverables to contract requirements.
  • Displays professional curiosity and proactive leadership.
  • Progressively develops delegation skills.
  • Progressively leads on project deliverables.
  • Serves as orientation support for new APMs.
  • Learns about all Seaspan business lines.
  • Learns keys to team/customer relationship building.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree or diploma in Engineering, Commerce, or Project Management is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in shipbuilding, manufacturing, construction or equivalent industry.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Actively working toward CAPM and/or PMP certification.
  • Understanding of project management principles (e.g., scheduling, budgeting, deliverables tracking)
  • Familiarity with project management systems and tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain meeting minutes, action logs, and project documentation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with a developing ability to engage with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Demonstrates initiative and a willingness to learn shipyard processes, terminology, and PMO best practices.
