About the role
- Data Analyst (Hybrid, Toronto): Analyze Netezza databases, assess migration to Azure, perform data mapping, modeling, and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Analyze all Netezza database tables to identify business-critical and frequently used tables, redundant and unused data assets. Perform data profiling and quality analysis. Assess data dependencies and relationships across systems. Evaluate and report on migration status from Netezza to Azure. Validate data consistency between environments. Create source-to-target data mapping documents and establish end-to-end data lineage. Develop metadata repository, data dictionary, and taxonomy. Perform data modeling including conceptual, logical, and physical models. Write and optimize SQL queries, develop DDL scripts, and perform data wrangling using Python. Work with data lakes and structured/unstructured data sources.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in data analysis, data modeling, or data engineering roles. Strong expertise in SQL (mandatory) and Python (or other scripting languages). Experience with Netezza and cloud platforms (preferably Azure). Experience with data modeling tools (e.g., ERwin, ER/Studio, Azure tools). Solid understanding of data lineage, metadata management, ETL/ELT processes, and data migration strategies. Data profiling, analysis, mapping, and documentation skills. Ability to collaborate with data engineers, BI/reporting teams, data science teams, and business stakeholders.
