About the role

  • Senior Highway Design Project Manager in AECOM managing highway design projects ensuring compliance with MTO standards. Lead teams and oversee project phases from design to procurement.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of highway and roadway design projects in accordance with MTO (Ministry of Transportation, Ontario) standards and procedures
  • Manage the design and delivery of projects, ensuring compliance with MTO specifications, guidelines, and standards
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians, including remote team members
  • Set project priorities based on general direction from leadership, ensuring alignment with client and business objectives
  • Provide management and guidance to subordinate managers, enforce company and project policies, and act as the primary liaison between AECOM and client
  • Provide technical leadership in specialized areas of highway engineering, coordinating the work of other professionals
  • Actively participate in all project phases, including client meetings, feasibility studies, preliminary and detail design development
  • Serve as Capture or Project Manager for key pursuits, identifying and securing new project opportunities
  • Responsible for administering the project from budgeting/schedule stage through procurement and contract closeout

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Civil Engineering + 8 years of relevant experience in highway transportation projects
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario (or eligibility for licensing) or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation
  • Project management experience with MTO and Ontario municipal transportation projects
  • Ideally 15+ years of experience in highway/roadway design, including preliminary and detail design for transportation projects
  • Experience designing highways, interchanges, and roadway systems
  • Familiarity with design software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, or AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Familiarity with MTO Design Standards, TAC Guidelines, and Highway Safety Design principles
  • Experience with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project) for project communications and reporting
  • Strong background in business development and client relations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
