About the role

  • Payroll and benefits administrator managing compliant Canadian payroll for ASSA ABLOY’s access-solutions business. Supporting benefits, reconciliations, reporting, and process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Corporate Controller
  • Work closely with the Swedish parent organization, ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems, on payroll and benefits practices
  • Administer payroll and employee benefits across Canadian entities
  • Prepare and submit certified payroll reports in compliance with prevailing wage requirements
  • Support biweekly Canadian payroll processing, including data entry, validation, and reporting
  • Conduct regular payroll data audits
  • Ensure compliance with wage and hour legislation, tax regulations, union agreements, and company policies
  • Calculate, deduct, and remit union dues
  • Assist Finance with monthly payroll-related journal entries
  • Process biweekly payroll for hourly union, hourly non-union, and salaried employees
  • Perform biweekly payroll reconciliations and support monthly reporting
  • Support harmonization and standardization of payroll platforms and processes across entities
  • Prepare and complete year-end reporting, including T4s and T2200s
  • Respond to employee payroll, time and attendance, and benefits inquiries
  • Provide ad hoc reports to senior leadership and other departments
  • Identify and implement process improvements, system efficiencies, and stronger payroll controls
  • Maintain accurate, complete, compliant payroll data and high data integrity

Requirements

  • College degree in Human Resources or Business Administration or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration
  • Strong time management and prioritizing skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Working knowledge of ADP but not required
  • Strong work ethic and ability to be a team player
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Multi-provincial payroll experience required
  • Working knowledge of Canadian payroll tax and employment legislation
  • Ability to deal with difficult, sensitive, and confidential information
  • Detail oriented
  • Minimal errors in time-sensitive workflow
  • Excellent organizational, follow-up, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks
  • Ability to work as a team
