About the role
- Project Accounting Manager overseeing project accounting leadership and compliance in construction projects. Collaborating with operations and finance teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial management.
Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the Project Accounting Manager will be part of a high-performing project team dedicated to delivering construction projects.
- Responsible for providing project accounting leadership and support for projects, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficient financial management.
- Work closely with the operations and finance teams to ensure timely and accurate invoicing, cost reconciliation, and financial reporting.
- Lead a team of project accountants while working collaboratively with project controls team.
- Accountable for the financial management of projects, including gross profit, project % complete forecasting, WIP, revenue recognition and backlog.
- Oversee cost management activities, including cost reconciliation, analysis, and control measures, while ensuring adherence to project contracts.
- Conduct regular cost reviews and reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies or variances.
- Collaborate with project managers, directors, and other stakeholders to provide financial insights and support for project planning and execution.
Requirements
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant work experience.
- CPA or other relevant professional designation considered an asset.
- Proven leadership experience of at least 4+ years.
- Advanced Excel proficiency, ability to work with complex formulae, XLOOKUP/INDEXMATCH functions, and arrays.
- Proficiency with ERP systems; experience in Viewpoint Vista or InEight considered an asset.
- Industrial construction and public company experience considered an asset.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, handle pressure, and meet challenges in a dynamic business environment.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
