About the role

  • BMO Business Development Manager growing home-financing business through broker, builder, and partner relationships. Driving referrals, market share, and customer outcomes across Calgary and Edmonton.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with centres of influence and third parties, including brokers, brokerages, builders and non-BMO Investment Advisor Offices
  • Apply market and industry expertise to deliver a winning customer experience and grow market share
  • Identify share of wallet opportunities and refer business opportunities to key partners
  • Develop and execute a market business plan to achieve objectives
  • Represent sales programs and products in sales calls and at events
  • Generate appointments and develop new relationships to grow business results
  • Prioritize the market’s client and prospect pipeline
  • Support regional sales programs and product delivery to maximize client opportunities and increase referral volume and deal flow
  • Train and coach internal and external partners on program/product operational guidelines and regulatory requirements
  • Develop solutions and make recommendations based on business strategy and stakeholder needs
  • Provide advice and guidance on implementation of solutions
  • Collect documentation for onboarding and approval of new partnerships
  • Negotiate pricing, underwriting and efficient presentation of applications with brokers, builders and program partners
  • Identify and escalate broker/partner behaviour posing fraud, AML, reputation or other risks
  • Provide input into planning and implementation of operational programs
  • Execute work to deliver timely, accurate and efficient service
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Analyze data and information to provide insights and recommendations
  • Monitor and track referral performance and address issues
  • Ensure alignment between stakeholders
  • Support strategic initiatives with internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues
  • Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose and solve problems
  • Take measured risks while protecting the bank under BMO’s Risk Management Framework

Requirements

  • Typically between 4 - 6 years of relevant experience
  • Post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • In-depth knowledge of mortgage programs / products and B2B networks
  • In-depth presentation skills and time management
  • Proven business development success
  • Customer-oriented; focused on designing and delivering a great customer experience
  • Proactive and collaborative with team members to establish trust and partnerships
  • Committed to building strong internal and customer relationships
  • Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience
