Field Service Technician for EnerSys providing solutions for stored energy applications by diagnosing and repairing equipment at customer sites. Travel to customer locations for maintenance and technical support.
Responsibilities
Travels to customer sites to evaluate, diagnose, and repair customer’s equipment including install, repair, and perform preventative maintenance to customer’s equipment to include flooded and sealed batteries, chargers and DC power distribution equipment (cable trays, battery racks and power cables)
Interacts with all levels of people, both inside and outside the company
Develops and conducts training on the safe operations of the equipment and demonstrates skills to trainees, including both team members and customers
Performs Preventative Maintenance inspections of customers batteries, chargers, battery handling equipment, and battery changing/charging area and records data
Replaces defective parts, reassembles battery, and fuses lead parts with gas torch
Diagnoses and repairs battery charging equipment
Building batteries- when required in shop
Removes and disassembles cells and inspects parts to detect defects
Fills cells with acid solution and determines specific gravity of solution when required in shop.
Waters, washes, cleans, and neutralizes customers’ batteries at customers’ location
Operates material handling equipment per OSHA requirements
Installs new or modified equipment at customers’ facility to ensure full functionality according to specifications
Performs inspections and analyzes findings to determine source of problem, and recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective action
Coordinates problem resolution with technical support, customer service, sales, and other personnel to expedite repairs
Provides on-site technical assistance to help troubleshoot and repair equipment
Maintains records of performance reports
Provides a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer
Occasionally download battery and charger data via a monitoring device and use the information to repair or correct battery/charger problems in accordance with the customer’s operation
Maintains a safe, orderly and clean working environment- Clean warehouse in service area at the end of the day- when required in shop
Requirements
One to two years’ industry related experience; or equivalent combination of technical education and industry experience.
Read and write, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
Write reports and business correspondence.
Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions which lead to proper customer solutions.
Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Must complete Enersys Canada Inc. Service Representative Training Course within 6 to 12 months.
Must complete forklift training.
Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
