About the role

  • Manager leading national food recovery programs for Food Banks Canada’s network of 5,500+ organizations. Building retailer partnerships and expanding access to nutritious food across Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Foster strategic relationships with program partners, including retailers
  • Lead partnership meetings and identify collaboration and resource opportunities
  • Conduct partner engagement and training sessions
  • Manage planning and execution of national food recovery programs, including the Retail Food Program
  • Develop and manage program communication, marketing, and training
  • Analyze programs to identify risks, opportunities, efficiencies, and engagement improvements
  • Train and mentor food banks to strengthen relationships with matched program partners
  • Increase the amount of food received by the food bank network
  • Lead program stewardship and recognition planning
  • Identify and develop incremental food recovery initiatives across Canada
  • Build strategies and programs that increase access to nutritious food

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years’ program management, food procurement, relationship building and/or fundraising/sales experience
  • Track record of successful results and ability to build and maintain donor/industry relationships
  • Completion of an undergraduate degree or equivalent in a related field
  • Strong knowledge of Canada’s retail sector
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport and trust with retail partners and internal stakeholders
  • Excellent presentation and negotiation skills
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities
  • Strong general computer skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
  • Must have reliable transportation for travel
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
