About the role

  • RBC commercial banking intern advising business clients on lending, credit, deposits, and operating services. Developing relationships, prospecting, and delivering tailored financial solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver value-added financial advice and tailored solutions to clients
  • Leverage sales-enabling tools, including sales planning, prospecting, and pre-call planning tools
  • Apply continuous improvement to deliver a superior client experience
  • Develop needs-based sales strategies for clients and prospects to grow revenue, deepen relationships, and achieve client loyalty
  • Serve commercial business clients in accounts, operating services, credit, lending, and deposits
  • Complete on-the-job training, self-study materials, interactive online courses, and classroom training
  • Work primarily in a Commercial Centre with mentor coaching throughout the approximately 9-month program

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in commercial/Agriculture lending preferred, as well as previous banking experience in a relationship management role
  • A post-secondary diploma/degree, ideally in commerce or business administration, or related experience
  • Demonstrated success in a business development role, especially with respect to acquisition of new clients, prospecting, and cold calling
  • Financial statement review and computer modeling and analysis experience
  • Experience with emerging communications and technology, including web-based meetings, social media, digital banking, and mobile applications
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Entrepreneurial attitude and self-motivation to achieve above average results
  • Continuous learner with curiosity about diverse customers and current knowledge of changing client needs, procedures, and relevant products
