About the role

  • Senior Business Analyst supporting Sun Life’s insurance distribution team through analytics, reporting, process improvement and change management. Managing data insights, sales targets and business initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Support analytics and reporting needs for Sun Life’s Insurance Distribution team
  • Maintain business reporting by working with the Sales team and internal partners
  • Review data to generate value for a variety of functions
  • Develop enhanced analytics and reporting
  • Manage ongoing data and reporting needs
  • Create innovative and effective methods of analyzing data to provide business insights
  • Monitor and resolve production data and platform issues
  • Investigate and reconcile reporting issues while ensuring minimal disruption to sales teams
  • Manage the annual sales target-setting process with internal stakeholders
  • Update and maintain regional and advisor alignment daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly
  • Develop and maintain internal relationships to facilitate issue resolution and enhance reporting and analytics
  • Lead end-to-end project and change management activities, including planning, scheduling, governance, execution, post-implementation communication and monitoring
  • Capture stakeholder impacts, coordinate end-user training and communications
  • Lead business-user activities and training for new or improved analytics, reporting and technologies
  • Facilitate requirements-gathering sessions and develop business requirements and enhancement planning
  • Evaluate business processes, anticipate requirements, identify improvement areas, and implement solutions
  • Handle ad hoc reporting requests, analyze data, and present findings to leaders at various levels

Requirements

  • Ability to apply systems thinking and hypothesis testing
  • Ability to assess data models and data and process flows
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including persuasive presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate proactively, openly and directly with various stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • Strong consulting relationship-building skills across the organization
  • Strong workshop facilitation skills, including working with senior leaders
  • Ability to present data and information compellingly to influence and achieve support for change
  • Strong research, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to provide simplified explanations of complex analytical methodologies
  • Experience balancing multiple projects
  • Knowledge of internal teams and processes
  • Demonstrated analytical, facilitation and change management skills
  • Experience managing complex process improvement projects
  • Expert-level knowledge of tools to collect, aggregate, segment and analyze data, including MS Excel
  • Knowledge of Wrike, MS PowerPoint, MS Project and MS Visio
  • University degree in Business, Finance, Math/Statistics, Computer Science or an analytics-related discipline, or 5+ years of relevant experience with increasing responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of Tableau is an asset
  • Working knowledge of SQL and programming languages such as Python and R is an asset
