About the role

  • Performance Marketing Manager building Ground News’s Google and YouTube growth engine. Scaling subscriber acquisition for its news comparison platform while maintaining CAC and payback discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Build Google Ads from scratch, including account structure, campaign architecture, naming conventions, and testing frameworks
  • Scale spend from its current low base to a major share of total paid budget while holding CAC and subscriber payback
  • Own Search, Performance Max, Demand Gen, and YouTube, including budget allocation and bidding strategy
  • Work with external agencies to build the YouTube creative engine through briefing, testing, and hook and format iteration
  • Build, test, and iterate dedicated Google landing pages
  • Establish measurement infrastructure including conversion tracking, Enhanced Conversions, app and web attribution, incrementality testing, and trusted reporting
  • Experiment with and launch adjacent paid channels when justified
  • Partner with product, engineering, and analytics to deliver paid media requirements
  • Report performance honestly and tactfully

Requirements

  • 5+ years managing Google Ads at a meaningful scale, ideally in subscription, DTC, or app
  • Proven experience scaling an account from small to large
  • Hands-on YouTube experience, including scaling video campaigns
  • Strong analytical skills; comfortable with GA4, spreadsheets, and BI tools
  • Ability to brief video creative and diagnose ad performance
  • Experience managing campaigns on paid channels beyond Google
  • Genuine interest in news and media is a plus
  • Ability to travel occasionally to the Kitchener, Ontario HQ and company-wide All Hands meetups
  • Ability to work legally in Canada
