About the role
- Merchant Operations Specialist supporting Thanx, a restaurant loyalty and guest engagement platform. Configuring integrations, investigating issues, monitoring location health, and building operational automations.
Responsibilities
- Configure and update loyalty, rewards, mobile app, and online-ordering setups for new and existing restaurant merchants
- Connect merchants to POS, ordering, and delivery partners, including credential handling
- Coordinate with partner teams when integration issues require their involvement
- Investigate escalations from Support and Customer Success
- Resolve issues or provide Engineering with evidence-based bug reports
- Monitor location health, integrations, and card transactions
- Enroll locations with Visa, Mastercard, and American Express and troubleshoot transaction-flow issues
- Build monitors, lookups, automations, and workflows to reduce repetitive manual work
- Communicate actionable updates to merchants and teammates
- Collaborate with Support, Customer Success, Implementation, Product, and Engineering
- Own an operational area end to end over time
Requirements
- Experience in a technical support, operations, implementation, or similar role diagnosing problems across multiple systems
- Track record of finding root causes, not just closing tickets
- Comfort with data; SQL is a big plus
- Experience using AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT for analysis, troubleshooting, or workflows
- Clear written communication with technical and non-technical audiences
- Habit of automating repetitive work
- Comfort in a lean, fast-moving environment where priorities shift
- Restaurant technology, POS systems, payments, or APIs experience is a plus
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends when required
- Candidates must live in Canada or one of the listed eligible US states, excluding the specified metro areas
