About the role

  • Payroll Administrator preparing and processing payroll for a growing studio of 300+ employees in Vancouver. Collaborating closely with finance and HR teams for efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process semi-monthly payroll for a growing studio of 300+ employees using Dayforce and ShotGrid
  • Encourage and motivate employees to complete time logs in a timely, accurate manner
  • Obtain appropriate approvals for overtime and ensure all overtime records are accurately reconciled in compliance with company policy
  • Monitor Dayforce statutory remittances and reporting, including EI, CPP, taxation, Worksafe, and Extended Health Benefits
  • Process employees expense reimbursements and payroll deductions
  • Prepare, reconcile and process T4s, ROEs and any other government returns that are not automated through Dayforce
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of taxable benefits to maintain accuracy and integrity of payroll processing
  • Prepare payroll working papers and collect information required for audits
  • Respond to and solve payroll inquiries
  • Make recommendations for improvements and changes to payroll system procedures and processes, maintain and update payroll system manual
  • Complete other duties as required to support the Finance team
  • Update the team on deadlines and tasks on a weekly basis
  • Challenge the status quo to drive efficiencies and innovation

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years full cycle payroll and benefits administration experience (visual effects industry experience is an asset)
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) (in progress or completion) preferred
  • Strong understanding of Canadian Payroll Legislation and willingness to keep up to date
  • Experience with Payroll Software (Dayforce payroll experience is an asset)
  • Proficiency in computer skills including Excel skills such as VLook-up and Pivot tables
  • Proven ability to perform assigned functions with diligence and superior accuracy
  • Handle confidential and sensitive employee information with professionalism
  • Adept time management skills and ability to meet tight and competing deadlines
  • Possesses strong attention to detail given the high accuracy nature of payroll.
